Unless you're blessed with superhuman powers like the Man of Steel, you need money — lots of it — to transform yourself into a believable crime fighter. How much does it cost to don the Iron Man suit and live Tony Stark's lavish life? Way too much money.

Iron Man 3 isn't scheduled for a release until 2013, but that doesn't mean Marvel can't tease us with Tony Stark's new suit of armor. Noticeably different from previous outings is that the new Iron Man suit is trimmed with more gold than red.

Iron Man is frequently paid tribute by skilled costume makers (exhibits A, B and C) — some who, like Mark Pearson, may have never known they had a little Stark in them. Maybe that's because, as Pearson says: "…I like the fact that he is not really a superhero, he is just a man with a flying suit… But what a suit — it's the Ferrari of superhero suits."

Anthony "Master" Le, who can handily boast of having the coolest homemade suit of Iron Man armor around, just added another little flair to his Mark VII armor, fashioned after Tony Stark's suit from the newly released film, The Avengers: an animating, light-up jetpack, installed with CO2 canisters to simulate hot jet stream air.

Iron Man 3 won't hit theaters until at least 2013, but that didn't stop Mark Bongo from giving his Xbox 360 slim a red and gold makeover. This mod isn't only a fresh splash of color, it has a glowing Arc Reactor and matching controller.

Before Tony Stark created the Iron Man Mark V Briefcase Armor, the bigger, chunkier and decidedly less sleek Mark I was his pummeling suit. One Chinese guy, Wang Xiao Kang had to have his very own Mark I, so he did what any sensible obsessed fan would do: he made one from scratch.

I'm trying to think of words to describe Ryan Brooks' Iron Man Mark V Briefcase Armor costume, but I can't. Words like "awesome" and "incredible" won't do it justice. As far as I can tell, this is the most realistic Iron Man costume ever created that actually fits into a briefcase as seen in Iron Man 2. Just watch the video to be blown away.
