We always knew that one day, quantum computers would be powerful enough to blow traditional processors out of the water. A new quantum simulator from the University of Sydney has, and we're quoting here, "the potential to perform calculations that would require a supercomputer larger than the size of the known universe." The new silicon wire is four atoms wide and one atom tall showing that "electrical resistivity" — or ease with which the current can flow — definitely doesn't depend on wire width.
