UPDATE: The Galaxy Nexus is out on Verizon as of Dec. 15 for $300 with a two-year contract.
Passing on the chance to sell the Samsung Galaxy S II smartphones in the U.S., Verizon's bagged itself a better smartphone that's also an exclusive to the carrier: the Galaxy Nexus. Get your wallet's primed, it's shopping time!
Watch out, Verizon just flipped a major privacy switch and it's not exactly anything to smile about. According to its new policy, Verizon will use data it collects to improve marketing reports and to provide more relevant ads to its customers. This is going to upset a lot of people.
UPDATE: Ars Technica reports the same as what we heard. Sprint confirmed that it will require an international roaming plan in order to use the micro-SIM for GSM roaming abroad. You won't be able to use an international micro-SIM card in your Sprint iPhone 4S. We knew it was too good to be true.
AT&T customers will be very sad this summer because there will be no new iPhone release. Instead, Apple's expected to release the next iPhone sometime in September. Verizon says that it's getting the next iPhone at the same time as AT&T. This corroborates with the news that the iPhone 5 is a CDMA/GSM world phone.
Following in the footsteps of AT&T, Verizon is planning to kill off its unlimited data plans, instead switching to a tiered system that will charge heavy users more to download via their phones. Sigh.
Remember Antennagate, when the iPhone 4 first came out and everyone freaked out because holding it in a certain way hurt reception? Apple gave out free bumpers and everyone seemed to move on. Well, now the Verizon iPhone is out and guess what? It's got the same problems.
Remember how the Verizon iPhone 4 pre-orders sold out literally in less than two hours? Well, a few new stats from the cellphone addicts at BGR tell otherwise: Verizon iPhone 4 sales aren't so hot as hoped.
Is it just us or does it seem like Verizon is getting all the goodies this year? First the Droid Bionic, then the iPhone 4 and now it's expected to get the lightning fast BlackBerry PlayBook? Sounds like a plan to us!
How badly did people want a Verizon iPhone 4? Well, iPhone 4 preorders set a record for the most first-day sales for any device in the company's history...before 5am.
