Darn it. If it weren't for things like practicality, we'd all be flying around in jetpacks from Google.
Most functional jetpacks aren't really jetpacks. They're rocket belts, or ducted-fanpacks. To make an actual jetpack, you need some jet engines, and two guys have stuck four (barely) hobby-grade engines together into what they hope will become a working strap-on flying device.
Sorry Gears of War couple, but the coolest wedding of the week belongs to newlyweds Amanda Volf and Grant Engler. After exchanging vows n Newport Beach, California, the just married pair proceeded to ride $90,000 water jetpacks. How badass!
Ask any superhero who isn't fortunate enough to have a built-in flying ability whether they prefer jetpacks or rocket boots, and they'll always say rocket boots.* Why? Because rocket boots let you do tricks. We might not have proper rocket boots yet, but these water-powered ones are the next best thing. And they're even affordable.

We all want jetpacks, but the only way they'll ever be affordable is if they're good for something besides being a plot device for James Bond movies. OK, well, this is the best. This is from a local San Diego morning show, where they tried to show off a dude on a water jetpack to come back from commericial. He says "Hello San Diego!" and then, well... you really should just watch it.
How do you test a jetpack and make sure it's safe? If you're the makers of the Martin Jetpack, you strap in a dummy and set up the jetpack to work via remote control.
Rocketeers, rejoice! That Martin Aircraft Company jetpack we've been teasing you about for a while is going to be produced at a rate of 500 units a year and sold. For a cool $75,000, you're looking at a 200-horsepower, dual...
