Only one in 200 applicants survived the first cut, with many challenges yet to go.
You know the old saying: with new surface coatings comes new contests. Well, maybe that one hasn't worked its way into our vernaculars yet, but in the case of NBD Nano, it can be considered solid truth. The company created a new surface coating, and GrabCab launched a contest of the best way to use it.
It's only been about a month since DARPA challenged geeks everywhere to come up with a way to reassemble shredded documents, but we have a winner: a team based in San Francisco named "All Your Shreds Are Belong To U.S."
You see it all the time in the movies: someone finds a pile of shredded documents proving just how evil the evil bad guys is, takes a picture, and sends it to their lame computer geek sidekick. Apple is having an event later today and we'll be tweeting the news live as it happens on our Twitter feed. The instant updates start happening at 1 p.m. Eastern, so just give us a follow and start refreshing like crazy once the action starts. As a bonus, we'll be giving away a prize to one lucky follower.
We're always on the lookout for USB sticks with magical powers of growth and rebirth, and at the same time are constantly amused by quacking wordsmiths spewing medical jargon. That's why we uttered a great gasp of WTF as we...

DVICE's Steampunk Cylon contest is in full swing — thanks to everybody who's contributed so far! Even though the contest is open only to residents of the U.S., anyone can send us a Steampunk Cylon design; you can't win the...
