After 19 years and over 15 million vehicles, the last Model T was manufactured on May 31, 1927. When the Model T was introduced in 1908, it cause quite a stir. Not only was it the first affordable car, but 15,007,003 Model T's later and Ford forever changed traveling in America.
 
On May 27, 1930 the Chrysler Building opened to the public and officially became the tallest man-made building in the world. Although the Empire State Building (1,250 feet) quickly surpassed the Chrysler Building (1,046 feet), Walter Chrysler's battle against the Bank of Manhattan Trust Company for the title of world's tallest building has been called "the most intense race in skyscraper history."
 
Being healthy is all fine and good — in fact we're all for it — but some health-minded items on the market today are pretty boring. Well, that just won't do, now will it? Skarphedinn Thrainsson must have decided that regular old landscapes just wouldn't cut it anymore when he decided to focus on volcanoes. These shots were taken in Thrainsson's native Iceland a couple years back when the Eyjafjallajokull eruption caused major delays at airports across Europe. Stay tuned for more from Thrainsson — he has plans to take more amazingly otherworldly shots of volcanoes around the world.
 
Kostadin Luchansky took this spectacular shot of the often-photographed Serra da Leba in Angola. With fog and little light to work with, Luchansky got lucky when a few cars traveled up and down the windy stretch of road to create this long exposure beauty. For this unique take on a well known landscape, Luchansky made it to the short list of the Sony World Photography Awards 2011.
