Twitter dress displays hashtags and direct messages in real-time

Wearable technology has nearly taken over the sports apparel and accessories field, but when it comes to high fashion, embedded tech is still quite rare. So when pop singer Nicole Scherzinger donned a dress connected to a live Twitter stream the outfit got more than a little bit of attention.

Created by Cute Circuit, the Twitter dress is a garment constructed with embedded LEDs that display tweets from thousands of fans from around the world. The dress was unveiled during a recent event to launch a new 4G network from wireless company EE in London. Cute Circuit sent out a call to the singer's fans to tweet messages with the hashtag "tweetthedress," or via direct message to the @EE Twitter account, and those messages were immediately streamed to the dress during the event.
