This is what a U.S. flag with 51 stars looks like, imagined by Reddit

Tuesday brought a ton of news with it. Outside of the Presidential election and the return of the Master Chief, Puerto Rico (non-bindingly) voted to become the 51st State in the Union. While Puerto Rico's ascension to statehood isn't guaranteed, Reddit has been buzzing with flag designs to welcome the 51st star.

Puerto Rico holds referendums on statehood occasionally, but Tuesday marked the first time that the measure passed. For Puerto Rico to achieve statehood, the measure, as well as a state constitution, would have to be approved by Congress and the President.

Reddit is, perhaps unsurprisingly, way out in front of the government. A thread soliciting new flag ideas has nearly 2,000 comments. Above and below are two of our favorites.
