Peugeot supercar concept is a green hybrid machine

Tell people that you drive a hybrid, and most will conjure up an image of you in a Toyota Prius with a "Save The Arctic Ice Cap" bumper sticker (not that there's anything wrong with that). Imagine their faces if you then pulled up in this diesel-hybrid concept from Peugeot.

The Onyx concept will be shown at the Paris Motor Show in a couple of weeks, proving that it's not impossible to be both green and ultra stylish at the same time.

The Onyx's drive train couples a 3.7 liter V-8 diesel engine with an electric motor to deliver a combined massive 680 horsepower, which is more than you get in a Ferrari Enzo. It was originally designed for the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP race car that won the Le Mans 24 hour race in 2009.

Performance figures for the Onyx street version were not disclosed, but I think you can be pretty sure that this one won't cause embarrassment when you drop your kid off at school.
