Berlin, Germany — Amidst the serious 4K and OLED HDTVs and myriad Windows 8 gear, here at the IFA electronics show which officially starts today many a goofy product can be found. Such as, a mouse that's also a scanner from the usual staid LG.
First off, a mouse? There are still people using mice in 2012?
Anyway, you run the LSM-300 back-and-forth across a document (in this case, a map of Berlin, but I'll guess it's primary usage will be on photos) and it scans than transmits the image onto a PC (Windows XP, Vista 7/Mac OS X 10.6 or higher) via a wireless 2.4 GHz connection at 1,200 dots per inch.
Once scanned in, included software helps you upload your image to the usual social networking suspects as well as Evernote and even Google Translate, in case you're scanning something not in your native language.
We weren't able to get hard technical details due to a language barrier, but a rep did tell me the scanner mouse runs around 80 euro.
