11 titanic fan-made Lego starships that will blow you away
Fantastic as the official Lego play sets are, nothing beats the creations built by hardcore enthusiasts. Over the years we've seen a ton of impressive fan-made Lego starships that were either too big or too heavy for their own good. After scouring the Internet high and low, we concluded that these 11 are — what we think — are the biggest and baddest Lego starships in the universe.
While this is our list of our favorites, if you know of or have your own starship titan that you think should have made the cut, drop it to us in the comments below. We'd love to see it!

1. Battlestar Defender Where do we even begin with this one? Lego extraordinaire Garry King's Battlestar Defender is just gigantic at 73.5 x 15 x 24-inches. Naturally, a Lego creation this large requires a ton of pieces: 22,765. It's so heavy that King says that it's really tough for one person to move it. We believe him. [SOURCE]
2. Battlestar Galactica Valkyrie Created from nothing but reference images available on the Internet, this Battlestar Valkyrie took over five months from start to finish and has a whopping 42,341 Lego pieces put into its 111-pound body. [SOURCE]
3. Settera You need to really love Lego if you're willing to dedicate three years of your life to building a starship that's probably heavier than most people. Inspired by a variety of sci-fi starships, Thomas Haas's Settera is extremely detailed and weighs about 262 pounds! You'll probably fail if you try to lift this guy up by yourself. [SOURCE]
4. Firefly Serenity Anybody with a lot of time and patience can go out and create a Lego titan, but Adrian "brick frenzy" Drake decided not to take the easy route. Not only is his Firefly Serenity a looker made from 70,000 bricks, but there are even detailed interiors, a cargo bay that lights up, engines that rotate and wings that flip out to reveal a small detachable shuttle. 5. Star Trek II U.S.S. Reliant Feeling that there weren't many good Star Trek user creations posted on the Internet, Christer "Myko82" Nyberg decided to build one that would become the crown jewel. Built over the course of one year, the Reliant has 10,000 to 15,000 Lego pieces. [SOURCE]
6. Battlestar Berzerk While not as large or heavy as many of the Lego starships in this gallery, the Battlestar Berzerk is an amazing feat because it was created from a single brief frame in the first episode of Battlestar Galactica. Outside of some blurry pics, the ship's design was tough to nail down. That didn't stop this 54-pound creation from rising up and kicking ass. [SOURCE]
7. Halo Assault Carrier Ask any Lego nut and they'll tell you that creating curves with Lego pieces is a tough job. Not for Ben "Benny Brickster" Caulkins! Because his 111-pound Halo Assault Carrier is just bursting with curves all over the place. [SOURCE]
8. StarCraft 2 Battlecruiser In South Korea, having StarCraft 2 skills is the equivalent to being the quarterback on a football team in the U.S. For Sven Junga, StarCraft 2 is just another sci-fi world to inspire his Lego creations. Here's a 15,000-piece Hyperion battlecruiser that took six months to construct and even has little StarCraft 2 space marines! [SOURCE]
9. Star Wars Super Star Destroyer Executor Built with over 10,000 pieces and measuring about 6.7-feet long, "Jedi Micky's" Darth Vader starship might be the largest of its kind in the world. Aside from the 2,000+ hours spent over two years to create this monster, the fact that its creator is only 16-years-old is most impressive. [SOURCE]
10. Ralph McQuarrie's BASESHIP Concept If you don't know this legend you need to hand over your geek cred right now. Fan Garry King wanted to pay tribute to the greatest sci-fi concept artist of all time with this 16,387-piece, 37-pound concept base ship. It features three landing bays on the top of its main hull and probably can't stand up on its own. [SOURCE]
11. Star Wars Nebulon-B Escort Frigate Unless you're a diehard Star Wars geek, you probably never heard of the Nebulon-B Escort Frigate. That's cool, because all you need to know is that it's a warship created by the Imperial Navy to shield convoys from Rebel Alliance starfighters. Created by Lego master GeneraL_(Will), the Nebulon-B is just about four feet two inches long. [SOURCE]
