Technical glitch: 18 minutes of fireworks go off in 15 seconds

Yesterday was Independence Day, better known as July 4 or America's 236th birthday celebrating freedom from British colonization. Most Americans celebrate with fireworks. This is what happens when a "technical glitch" messes things up and 18 minutes worth of fireworks accidentally go off at once.

Thousands of people waited for San Diego's Big Bay Boom fireworks show last night at 9:00 p.m., but all they got was a 15 second show.

According to ABC News, Garden State Fireworks, the firm contracted with setting up the show had a fatal "glitch" that royally screwed up the entire show.

We will be working throughout the night to determine what technical problem caused the entire show to be launched in about 15 seconds. We apologize for the brevity of the show and the technical difficulties," the company said in a statement posted on www.bigbayboom.com.

Needless to say, there were tons of angry citizens. If I were in San Diego and waited hours for an 18 minute show and all of the fireworks exploded in one go, I'd feel pretty gypped too.

I suppose the saying "sh"t happens" is appropriate, isn't it? Watch the Big Bay Boom's epic fail below.
