Talking urinal cakes tell drunk bar customers to call a cab
After a long night of drinking at the local watering hole, most guys need to relieve themselves before heading home. So the state of Michigan figured that would be the perfect time to remind them about getting home safely.
The talking urinal cakes were sent out by the Michigan State Police to 200 bars and restaurants, presumably those where they encounter the most DUI problems. Once activated by your stream, the cake will pipe up with snarky comments like:
"Hey there big guy! Having a few drinks? Then listen up! Think you've had one too many? Then it's time to call a cab or a sober friend for a ride home. It sure is safer and a hell of a lot cheaper than a DWI. Make the smart choice tonight, don't drink and drive. Remember, your future is in your hand."
Or this one that's guaranteed to get any guy's attention:
"Here's a real friendly reminder. Don't drive drunk. If you do and you get arrested, the next urinal you pee in will be in jail, with a hairy guy named Bubba standing behind asking you to pick up the soap..."
That sounds pretty clever, but I wonder how many drunk guys will just be confused when they hear somebody talking to them from down in the urinal? A really smart version would be able to perform an instant blood alcohol content test, and sound an alarm if any guy squirts over the legal limit.
Currently the talking cakes are only available at the 200 bars selected by the Michigan State Police, but this seems like a product that could catch on if they were available at retail.
