Remember those old electromagnetic display boards they used to have in airports and train stations? This dot display revives that technology, but with a twist. The designers have made it fast enough so that it can actually work like a TV display, mirroring the moves of people walking past.
Set up in midtown Manhattan to promote TNT's crime drama Perception, the display shows words which bystanders can erase by walking past or waving at the display. A camera records their movements, then displays them as a silhouette wiping out the words on the display as they move.
Created by a New York based design group called Breakfast, the display will be operation 24/7 in Manhattan's Herald Square until July 29.
