ChildMinder helps parents who forget their kids in the car

For those of you who consistently forget your children in the car, there's now a $30 device to remedy that. The ChildMinder car seat sensor alerts any absentminded parent who has walked away with his baby in the car.

Made by the nearly eponymous Baby Alert International, the ChildMinder Infant-Toddler Elite Pad System "is a passive safety seat monitoring system," according to the website. Thank heavens it's passive.

It comes with an "Elite Pad," "Base Unit" and a "Key Ring Alarm Unit." You place the Elite Pad under the child's car seat. It communicates with your Key Ring Alarm Unit, and if you find yourself more than 15 feet away, then you've got six seconds to get back before your alarm starts going off.

According to the website, this is extremely necessary. "The Elite Pad System will significantly reduce that one in a hundred thousand chance that your child may be inadvertently left unattended in a motor vehicle while seated in their child safety seat," it says.

The website boasts that people who bought this product also bought something called a Digital Bear Bath Thermometer.

Yep.
