The Avengers' awesome but impractical user interface designs
If you took in Marvel's latest box office hit, The Avengers, you'll know that it is crammed with tons of futuristic user interfaces. Well, somebody had to design all those fancy HUDs and UIs, and that guy is Jayse Hansen. Just look at this great stuff. It's great for the movies, but terrible UI design for consumers.
Working with Cantina Creative, Hansen was tasked with creating interfaces for the Hellicarrier as well as Iron Man's Mark VII HUD. There's so much information on each UI that us common folk would vomit from all the data overloading our eyeballs.
Hansen says that although the interfaces are entirely fictional, he consulted a real A-10 fighter pilot and real aircraft carrier screens to draw inspiration. There are even some sweet easter eggs such as J4YS3 hidden in some of the screens.
All of Hansen's work was done in Illustrator, After Effects and Cinema 4D. Not bad for a freelancer.
