Android's creepy death stare is the future of Russian robotics

The business of creating androids that look almost human has seen amazing advances in the last decade. Now Russian roboticists want to get in on the action with a robot that completely nails the weird, glassy-eyed geek stare commonly seen from the likes of Mark Zuckerberg.

The android head and torso was commissioned by Russian media mogul Dmitry Itskov, as part of his Avatar project to create mind-controlled robots in the next decade. Interestingly, the android's digital poker face was based Itskov's own face. At this point the android doesn't appear to do much more than bow and stare, but the researchers behind the robot have great hopes for the future.
