Chinese farmer creates a wind-powered car

The innovations coming out of China aren't always the most high-tech or even the most practical, but they are almost always born of amazing ingenuity. Such is the case with this new wind-powered car.

A 55-year-old man from Beijing apparently constructed the vehicle using about $1,600 worth of materials and claims that the vehicle has a range of about 86 miles. Equipped with a giant fan on its front grill for electricity generation for its batteries, the car's body looks a bit like a retro sci-fi rendering of a flying car.

The vehicle isn't something you'd want to drive, but it might provide inspiration for commercial designers thinking outside-of-the-box. You can see the wind-powered car in action in the video below.
