Old wind turbines make surprisingly good playgrounds

I'll admit at a first glance I didn't see it. It looks to me exactly like a pile of scrapped wind turbine blades. Then I looked at the photos from the child's eye view and saw it — you can crawl inside these things!

They make great slides too.

This is one freakin' good idea. Five old rotor blades and other assorted turbine parts have been chopped up and dropped into a Dutch playground instead of a landfill. The parts have gone from generating electricity to fueling kid's imagination in some damn creative recycling efforts.

2012Archiecten is the design firm behind this unique playground. They thought of every detail — from making turrets to climb in, to hanging nets for the kids to climb on (as well as to save the neighbors' gardens).
