Hate running? Bloodthirsty zombies are counting on that
There's not much that could get me to move faster than a leisurely walk. Except zombies. When threatened by an undead invasion I'd manage to find a bit more spring in my step. It's that kind of motivation the new app/game Zombies Run! counts on.
This new running app is like stepping into a scenario from the movies where zombies have taken over the world and you are one of the few left that can help humanity. While on the run from zombies at every turn, you'll be collecting ammo, supplies, medicine and food along the way.
The game, now available for pre-order, will be available for iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices. You'll download the story directly to your device where you'll hear the story and receive your mission instructions. You'll get ample reason to keep going by the sound of zombies on the move right behind you.
You can continue the experience when you get home by visiting the game's website to decide what to do with your supplies and explore more post apocalyptic missions. The more you run, the more supplies you collect. The more you collect, the more missions you can play at home.
It's like the perfect gamer's hamster wheel!
The app may have its motivation centered in a gaming experience, but it is designed to help you shape up. Like most other running tools you can use it anywhere — outside or in the gym. It keeps track of all your valuable running stats like distance, pace, and calories and can be synched with RunKeeper so your information is stored in one place.
When you aren't receiving mission instructions (or when you need a break from the heavy breathing zombies) you can run to your own music. Eye of the Tiger would do nicely in these sorts of situations.
Because ZombiesRun! is not yet available to demo we have yet to see if it delivers, but the concept sounds like a a pretty entertaining way to get people moving. Capitalizing on the near universal fear of zombies is a smart way to get your heart pumping in more ways than one.
