Life-sized Stormtrooper cake weighs 300 pounds, feeds 600 geeks

The Godzilla of all Star Wars cakes is not that LED-lite Death Star cake we saw last summer. It's this 6-foot 4-inch tall Stormtrooper that was created by Amanda Oakleaf Cakes.

Weighing in at 300 pounds and sliced up for 600 Arisia Sci-Fi Convention attendees, the Stormtrooper cake took Amanda and a team of nine two weeks to design, create and assemble.

This creation isn't all cake, though. It's legs are made out of Rice Krispies to keep the entire guy from toppling over. Amanda's cake blog says that they also had to invent new ways of holding its fondant vertically over time and figure out how to put it together in modular pieces. Talk about a challenge.

Go ahead and take a look at the finer parts of this Stormtrooper cake (higher resolution pics over at her blog). It's just a bit sad to see the dude's back and rear end sliced up. So this is what Jango Fett's DNA is made up of — delicious cake and Rice Krispies. I'll never look at Star Wars the same again.
