Excited for more tablet options? It's a new year and Asus is reportedly planning to hit the ground running with a powerful new 7-inch tablet worthy of the Transformer Prime name.
Notebook Italia is back with a render of what it believes will be the a 7-inch tablet from Asus. Rumors suggest the 7-inch tablet will be powered by the same Tegra 3 processor as the 10.3-inch Transformer Prime. Asus will reportedly announce the 7-inch tablet at CES next week with a $300 price tag.
Asus might also create a smaller keyboard dock to accompany it, although that seems a bit fishy, as it would mean a significantly cramped one.
Interestingly enough, Notebook Italia says that if the Transformer Prime "Mini" doesn't turn up to be true, it could be that the 7-inch tablet is really the "Eee Memo Pad" that Asus demoed at last year's CES, but never released.
Specs for the Eee Memo Pad were pegged with 1280x800 display, Snapdragon 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 16GB to 64GB of storage, 3G and Wi-Fi, and Android 3.0 Honeycomb.
Hasbro is currently suing Asus for marketing its tablets under the "Transformer Prime" label. The toy company responsible for Transformers-based toys says that Asus consumers are associating Transformer Prime with Transformers and Autobot leader Optimus Prime.
Asus spokesman Chang Wi-ming issued a statement saying that Hasbro's lawsuit would not affect the Transformer Prime's production.
So, full steam ahead?
