Don't judge me. Everyone back in the '90s had a Tamagotchi digital pet. I wasn't alone; you probably did too (and you know who you are). 78 million of the needy, pooping pixelated pets had us catering to their every need as we put down our analog pet rocks to go digital. Now they're back.
The success of these toys paved the way for modern online games such as Farmville; without them game makers would have underestimated our desire to care for our own patch of the digital universe. Surely this kind of game changer deserved a comeback tour for their 15th anniversary!
Bandai, the company originally responsible for the Tamagotchi, didn't disappoint us. The company just released an updated 15th anniversary limited edition model with upgrades for a new generation.
The Tamagotchi iD L 15th Anniversary Model is now in color and has loads of new environments to explore with your pet. You can now choose from 32 unique characters — 11 of which are exclusive to the new model. There are also plenty of new games to keep you busy.
The iD series also allows you to connect wirelessly to other Tamagotchis and their humans. You can swap items or even make a love connection.
In a stroke of good fortune, the next-gen Tamagotchi iD L Anniversary Edition has been released just in time to hit Christmas stockings everywhere. They aren't for the faint-hearted Santas however, as this updated classic toy runs $113 plus the $20 to ship from Japan.
If you're game, the only thing left for you to decide is which color you want — pink or purple.
