You can turn off ads on the Special Offers Kindle for $30

If you opt for the cheaper version of Amazon's Kindles, the ones with "special offers," your screensavers will be advertisements. But if you ever decide you're sick of them, Amazon will now let you buy your way out.

For $30, which is the price difference between "special offers" Kindles and regular Kindles, you can essentially upgrade from the former to the latter. It's pretty nice, preventing you from having to swap out your Kindle if you realize that you just can't enjoy reading fine literature on a device that offers you an AT&T contract when you aren't reading.
