Netflix changes its mind on the whole Qwikster thing

Remember how Netflix was going to split its DVD-by-mail business off into its own company, called Qwikster? Yeah, so that's not happening now.

With the reaction to the new plan being almost universally negative, CEO Reed Hastings decided to scrap it entirely. The price increase will stay, but people will still be able to control both their DVD queues and their streaming queues from the same website. A spokesman for Netflix said "We underestimated the appeal of the single Web site and a single service." Yep!

Netflix has taken a real beating on the publicity front lately, but they've also been aggressively going after more content. And that's really what'll make people forget about all this foolishness: a better selection of shows and movies available for streaming.
