Japan's NTT DoCoMo's always ahead of the curve. This time, it has a "battery jacket" that can recharge a cellphone to full power in 10 minutes. In the time it takes me to eat a lunch, my cellphone can be juiced up for the rest of the day. That's crazy.
The jacket does so by pushing more amps. As demonstrated in the video, a regular cellphone battery charges at 0.52 amps and the jacket's pushing things up to 5.83 amps.
At the moment, NTT DoCoMo's power juicer only works with NEC's Medias Android smartphone, but the idea is to expand it to other smartphones down the road. No availability outside of the "as soon as possible" was given, but that's enough to get us drooling for it.
I can't tell you enough, how many situations a 10-minute cellphone charger could have come in handy.
