Verizon and Comcast may be turning the Xbox 360 into a cable box

This is pretty neat: it looks like Verizon and Comcast are working on letting you use your Xbox 360 as a cable box/DVR. With most cable boxes/DVRs existing in the technological world of the late 1990s, this is exciting news.

Presumably, you'd be able to scroll through your channel guide and recorded shows right on your console. There'd be one less box under your TV sucking up juice, and you'd have something that integrated most of your entertainment options, from cable to Netflix to downloadable movies and shows to YouTube to video games, all in one place. Yes, please.

Now if only Verizon would get around to offering up FiOS on my street, I could fully get on board with this.
