Video of the day: fire blasting robo pony isn't Nintendo approved

It's been a good long time since we've seen a Nintendo Wii Remote hack. Nowadays it's all about those Kinect hacks. That's why as soon as we caught wind of this Wii Remote-controlled, fire breathing robot pony, we had to share it with you.

The tinkerers over at LVL1 thought it'd be sweet to have a robotic pony that could breath fire, so they gutted a Butterscotch Pony and presented it at Maker Faire Detroit 2011.

Stripped of its faux-fur, the robot pony was then outfitted to work with a Wii Remote and shoot flames out of its mouth. It's not quite the typical pony that leaps over rainbows and showers effervescent little girls with undying love, but we think LVL1's pony actually gives the name a better rep.

With 140 degrees of head motion, you can be sure this is one pony you don't want to cross. Peep the scary pony in action below.
