Self-driving cars will mean more time for VR gaming
When our cars are finally smart enough to drive themselves, we're going to suddenly have a lot of extra time on our hands. What's going to keep us entertained while we get where we're going? Dassault systems got together with some concept designers to imagine what it might be like.
First, here's a little video covering the concept:
Pretty wild, yeah? But let's consider for a moment what we'd need to actually get something like this to work:
- A self-driving vehicle
- Volumetric 3D navigation
- Minority Report interface
- Interactive touchable holograms
- Immersive display systems
- A crazy morphing flying bubble thingy
Yeah, okay, so that last one probably doesn't exist yet. But the rest of this stuff does. As concept-y as this video looks, we've got all the underlying technology, and it's just waiting for someone to throw it all together (and invent a morphing bubble flyer) and everything in that video could suddenly be made real.
