Japanese robot bootleg copy speaks Chinese but is just as cute

Chinese tech bootlegs products aren't limited to Apple stores and giant anime statues, apparently the country's enterprising reverse engineers will even copy Japan's smallest, cutest robots.

The UNISROBO is for all intents and purposes a copy of Japan's tiny NEC PaPeRo robot. Similar to its predecessor, the robot is designed to interact with children through lessons delivered via its chest screen interface. While the robot doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the PaPeRo (stereoscopic cams, ultrasonic sensors) it does appear to speak Chinese with great facility, which could be all it needs to succeed at this point in the shifting of global fortunes. According to sources, NEC is considering pursuing official action against the copy bot. You can see the UNISROBO in action in the video below.
