Kids want to power airplanes with apples, are taken seriously
Kids have some pretty crazy ideas about technology, as General Electric discovered when they asked children about their visions for the future of passenger aircraft. And somehow, none of these ideas were too crazy for GE.
Airplanes powered by rockets? Airplanes bigger than the A380? Airplanes that heal themselves and run on apples? These ideas (and more) came from the minds of 15 kids that GE talked to, while two experts did their best to translate this craziness into some semblance of reality.
Personally, I'm a big fan of the blue fire idea, but the 250 million apples sound like they might work, too.
This is part of a web series that GE has been producing to highlight some of the innovations that they've been working on in a bunch of different fields. I found this video about regenerative braking to be absolutely transfixing:
If you need any extra incentive to go check out some of this stuff, the GE Show site also includes a little minigame where you can take control of airport terminal management. Fun!
