Anonymous building its own social network for some reason

Anonymous, the loose collective of hackers, activists, and troublemakers were prohibited from making a news group on Google+. So they're gonna build their own social network. So much for being anonymous?

I'm not quite sure what the benefit of a social network designed to connect individuals would be to a group that completely eschews individualism. What info will anyone put in their profiles? "I also like V for Vendetta"?

It seems that they're looking to make a place that's censorship-free for disseminating information. Well, why not host a blog? Or use Twitter, which seemed content to let LulzSec release password dumps via the service.

But hey, best not to judge before they reveal more details. But from what's available now, it doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.
