Amazon's Android-powered Kindle tablet coming by October?

It's been clear for a while that Amazon is currently working on an Android-powered tablet, one that would compliment its kindle rather than replace it. And now it looks like we may be getting it sooner rather than later.

The tablet is said to have a nine-inch color touchscreen rather than the Kindle's black-and-white eInk screen. It'll also lack a camera; it sounds like it'll be less an iPad competitor than a souped-up Kindle, designed to intake media rather than be a jack of all trades.

It sounds interesting, although I'm not sure why someone would buy a more limited tablet when you can get a Kindle app for the iPad. I guess we'll see when more details are revealed closer to its release date.
