Will.i.am phones it in, uses his cellphone as a teleprompter

We kind of expect politicians to use teleprompters, but singers? At a recent performance for French TV, Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am whips out a cellphone and appears to read the lyrics for their latest single Don't Stop The Party.

The performance was actually a sort of live mashup with Belgian singer Stromae performing his own hit Alors On Danse at the same time, so maybe will.i.am thought the French tune would confuse him. But geez, he wrote Don't Stop The Party, so you'd think he would know the words.

So are we going to see a new wave of performers using phones to back them up live? In that case, why not just replace all of the instruments with phones?

If you can't stand the Black Eyed Peas, feel free to skip ahead to the 1.10 minute mark in the video to see will.i.am's cell-o-prompter in action.
