New version of Find My iPhone could record whoever has your phone

Apple's Find My iPhone service allows you to locate your phone if it's lost or stolen. Very handy! But according to some new patents, it could be getting a significant upgrade.

In addition to allowing you to pinpoint your lost phone's location, the update could allow you to use the phone's camera and mic to see just where it is. In addition, you'd be able to select specific files and apps to protect in case it was stolen. You'd be able to "scramble" them, making them inaccessible until you recovered it and unscrambled them.

It all sounds good to me. Since this info is all from a patent, Apple may or may not be implementing it, so we'll just have to wait and see.
