Lego unveils massive 3,000-brick Super Star Destroyer for $400

Usually when we see a Lego something this big, it's from a brick-crazed enthusiast who either has a ton of creativity, or a ton of coffee. This time around, it's an official Lego Star Wars playset, part of the company's Ultimate Collector Series, and it's being billed as the longest Lego creation the company has ever released.

Due out in September, the Super Star Destroyer — also known as the Executor: Darth Vader's personal warship, flagship of the Imperial Navy and the "really big thing that crashes into the Death Star in Return of the Jedi — enjoys some pretty impressive spec, clocking in at 3,152 pieces, 50 inches in length and eight pounds in weight. It'll also come with five custom Lego-men, including Darth Vader and Admiral Piett, as well as the bounty hunters Dengar, Bossk and IG-88.

Most important? According to the folks over on Lego-blog The Brothers Brick, the Super Star Destroyer is a great design and "sturdy enough to be swooshed."

The spacecraft and vehicles of Star Wars are a popular subject for Lego's UCS, which has included a regular ol' Star Destroyer, Rebel Blockade Runner, and the iconic Imperial Shuttle, amongst others.
