Forget those cute videos of people's cats, if YouTube has their way, they plan to become your new source for original TV entertainment.
To be fair, we kind of predicted this a while back, but now YouTube's parent company Google is reportedly ready to throw a $100 million hat into the ring.
It sounds kind of similar to Netflix's announcement a few months back, although the YouTube plan seems far more ambitious. 20 new premium channels with themes like arts and sports will carry a total of around 5 to 10 hours of new programming per week, although just what they mean by "premium" isn't clear.
Let's just hope it isn't 10 new hours of Fred each week.
