Online brain map lets you poke around virtual brains

Mmm, braaaaains. Brains are extraordinarily complex and delicious, and if you can't get enough of 'em, there's now a way to browse the virtual brains of real live dead people online.

The Allen Brain Institute has created an online zombie culinary manual human brain atlas designed to enhance public understanding of brains and assist with brain research. There are several different brains to choose from, and you can virtually browse through each in detail, viewing everything from MRI images to microarray data created from approximately 1,000 samples from each brain. 100 million data points provide additional information about each sample site, including how and where different genes are expressed.

By the end of next year, there should be eight additional brains added to the database, allowing you to compare male and female brains side by side, among other things. Isn't knowledge tasty?
