New Nintendo console debuting this June, beefier than current rivals

Well, this is interesting. Kotaku is reporting that Nintendo is planning to unveil the successor to the Wii this summer at the E3 conference, and it'll be more powerful than both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

This is notable because right now, the Wii has decidedly last-generation guts. Heck, it's not even HD, which makes it feel ancient compared to Sony and Microsoft's offerings. But a new console that leapfrogs over the other two major players would be big news indeed, possibly inviting major developers to bring more serious games to it that currently aren't worth downgrading enough to run on the wussy Wii. Only two more months until we'll see what it's like! Exciting stuff.
