King of the luxury cars reveals its electric engine concept

Rumored to be in the works as far back as 2009, the Rolls Royce Phantom electric concept car has finally made its debut, giving the wheel-heed crowd the opportunity to retain their ostentatious four-wheeled trophy while going green.

Code named 102EX, and revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, the car features twin rear-mounted 298 kilowatt electric motors. It also brings one other twist to the nascent luxury electric car category--an induction-charging plate underneath the frame that allows you to charge the vehicle by simply stopping it over a companion plate set in the floor. No pricing details have been revealed, but the mere attempt at such an innovation by such an established brand essentially assures that we'll see this on the road in the near future.
