GPS jacket opens the rest of the world up to the visually impaired

While scientific advances in biotech continue to reveal new surprises that may one day end impairments such as blindness, in the meantime electronic tech like the Point Locus prototype can help the sightless move through the world with a bit more ease.
Developed by Stephanie Wiriahardja, Emily Chen, David Barter, Karen Truong and Kennett Kwok, the jacket provides haptic feedback using GPS directions effectively guiding the wearer turn by turn to their destination. The jacket also features voice recognition, allowing the wearer to tell the jacket where they want to go next. You can see the Point Locus in action, as well as user testimonials, in the video below.
