When disasters strike and take down AT&T's cell towers, they generally bring in big trucks that serve as temporary replacement towers. But they now have an even more portable solution: towers in suitcases.
AT&T's new Remote Mobility Zone is made up of an antenna and a satellite dish, and it can handle up to 14 simultaneous calls within a half-mile radius. It's no replacement for the real thing, but it'll certainly do in a pinch. Want one to ensure you always have great service? It'll set you back somewhere between $15,000 and $45,000, plus a monthly fee, and it'll require a generator to run. Oh, and it can't do 3G. I guess I'll just keep dealing with the dropped calls.
