Digital music to outsell CDs for the first time this year
Thursday, March 31, 2011 - 2:30pm
It's surprising it's taken this long, but it's still a watershed moment: digital downloads are set to overtake the sales of physical copies of music for the first time this year.
I for one was surprised to learn that people still buy CDs. What do you do with them? Where do you keep them? What do you play them on? Geez, people, its 2011. Get with the program.
But still, if it wasn't obvious enough already, this should make it so: CDs are doomed, and digital distribution is the future of media. Take note, Hollywood: get your act together in the streaming department, fast. Blu-rays aren't gonna sell for much longer.
