Dental hearing aid gets the A-OK for use in Europe

A new hearing aid that hangs out on your teeth instead of inside your ears has just been approved for use in Europe. Instead of amplifying sound into your ears, it vibrates it into your jaw. Weird!

The device, called the SoundBite, is placed onto the upper left or right molars and is custom molded for each patient. It then uses mini-microphones placed behind the ear to transmit the sound through vibrations in your jaw. This allows you to hear what's going on without actually hearing it. Cool, right?

Now that it's set to be used in Europe, hopefully it'll make its way over to our shores before too long.
