With our smartphones and automatic latte machines in the city it's easy to forget that there's still a good bit of nature that needs the taming hand of technology. In that spirit one tinkerer applied his technological gifts to the problem of ice fishing without freezing to death.
Cobbled together by Mike Haeg, the system is set up to trigger a mini-rocket to fly into the air whenever the fish hook gets a bite, thus allowing the fisherman to monitor the fish hunting from the cozy confines of a tent or vehicle. While it does look rather DIY MacGyver, if commercialized this would actually make a great product. You can see video of the system in action in the video below.
