Designers Mey Kahn and Boaz Kahn took two very old ideas and turned them into one electricity-free way to cool a home. The ECOoler combines the Jara, a clay jug that cools via water evaporation and the Mashrabiya, a traditional wooden lattice window prevalent throughout the Middle East. Together, they create a cooling grid that works naturally — and cheaply.
