And you thought the iPhone 4's 960 x 640 Retina Display was sweet. Hitachi's new 4.5-inch IPS LCD for smartphones has even more pixels than you could possibly need in a mobile device.
Hitachi's LED-backlit LCD has a super large 1280 x 720 pixel resolution with a 329 pixel per inch density and a 1,100:1 contrast ratio. By comparison, that's 80 vertical lines short of my 13-inch MacBook's screen.
Incredible, just incredible! Hitachi says the screens will be mass produced in October, so we should see these screens hitting Android or iPhone devices shortly after that. Screen tech continues to impress us to no avail. With 3D-compatible versions on its way as well, 2012 is going to be a good year to get new gadgets.
