Video games can be pretty realistic, but what if you wanted to bump the realism up to a whole new level? French humorist Rémi Gaillard decided to find out, by driving a real go-cart Mario Kart style through city traffic while wearing a full Mario costume.

In the video, he tosses banana peels at the other cars and collects power-up items as he goes. At one point he even pulls into a local grocery for some extra bananas, resulting in a run-in with the store security guard.

Alas, at the end, he does meet his match with some French motorcycle cops.
