Social media cyborg to run in the Tokyo marathon
How do you get a tech blog to write about your plans to run in a marathon? Well, strapping half a dozen mobile devices to your body and a surprising number of high-tech goodies certainly helps. So, meet Joseph Tame.
Joseph plans to run the 26-mile Tokyo marathon, and he wants you — and the rest of the world — to run along with him. You don't need to put on a pair of jogging shoes, though. Joseph has cobbled together the iRig, a harness that includes four iPhones on swivel mounts, an Android handset, iPad and a trio of wireless routers, as well as weather and heart rate monitors. It's all topped off with a satellite-dish-hat, though that's just for show.
Goofy, sure? But then again, it's kind of cool how lightweight and portable technology has become that you could slap together a setup like this. Joseph will be broadcasting his run on a variety of sites with a variety of angles — hit up his blog for more information.
