Dubai's robotic camel jockeys caught packing Tasers

Camel racing is a big deal in the Arabian Gulf, but widespread child abuse caused the traditional young boy jockeys to be replaced by robotic jockeys a few years back.

The whole robot jockey thing is weird enough by itself. Basically, the young boy jockeys were being starved and abused, so several years ago the UAE banned child camel jockeys. They were replaced by robots operated by a remote wielding adult on the sidelines. The robots include functions to kick the camel, pull on the reigns, and can even operate a motorized whip.

Now, acting on a tip, police have arrested two men charged with fitting the robots with electric stun guns, triggered by the same remote the operates the normal jockey functions.

You can't make this stuff up.
